The Alpine Club headquarters in London is the venue for an evening of mountain poetry, hosted by Dennis Gray, starting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 November (bar open from 6pm).

Professor Terry Gifford will start the evening with a short but sweet review of mountain poetry.

After presenting a historical introduction, in which he will attempt to make the case that Alpine Club members such as Stephen, Ruskin and Geoffrey Winthrop Young were probably as interested in iambic pentameters as they were in Alpine peaks, Dennis will invite members to read their favourite verses and poems.

Finally, some short excerpts from the CD Wanderlust, which Dennis and Paul Cherry produced as a charity disc for the Mount Everest Foundation, will be played. This CD was made up of many different tracks by 15 different climber/singer/musicians.

This promises to be yet another evening with a difference.

Prospective members are welcome, and are asked to contact the Administrator before attending.
