The 205th meeting of the BMC Yorkshire Area will be held on Monday 15 September 2014 @ 19.30 in the Garden Room @ the Wheatley Arms, Ben Rhydding, Ilkley.
Come along to our quarterly gathering of Yorkshire climbers and walkers, to get involved in the work of the BMC. The area meetings are run by volunteers and are your chance to join in with debate and decisions regarding what happens in Yorkshire and rest of the country.
Amongst the items for discussion, the meeting will consider a proposal which was agreed at the Midlands Area Meeting as follows:
The Yorkshire Area proposes that the BMC sets up a working group, made up of representatives from each area, to support the Executive in implementing a strategy for hill walking - to emulate, and not diminish, the excellent service already provided to climbers, better to serve and inform our hill walking members and to attract new members.
At the meeting Andy Houseman will give a talk and slideshow about the first British ascent of the huge Slovak Direct route on the South Face of Denali, Alaska, which Andy made in 2012 with Nick Bullock. We’ll also have a display of Winter 2014 outdoor kit from Cotswold Outdoor.
All are welcome. Food will be served during the meeting.
The venue is very convenient for the railway station on the Leeds to Ilkley line.
