The BMC's member's annual gathering is taking place at at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall in the Peak District on Saturday 16 April 2016 at 11am. Why not come along and make a weekend of it?

Join us in the heart of the Peak District for the BMC’s annual gathering. It’s a friendly, social event for walkers and climbers who are members of the BMC. There will be chance to talk with staff and volunteers over the weekend about current work and share ideas for the future; and of course make the most of the wonderful outdoor opportunities the national park has to offer.

Programme of events

Friday 15 April

8.30 pm onwards: Grab yourself a drink and join us to watch In Extreme Danger, a BBC documentary about Frank Cannings’ epic 1971 Lundy rescue, introduced by the man himself.

9.30 pm onwards: Rob Greenwood, Chair of the BMC Peak Area, will be hosting one of his infamous quizzes, testing your knowledge on all things outdoors.

Saturday 16 April

9.30 am onwards: BMC Directors, staff and volunteers will be available for an open question and answer session with a focus on women in the outdoors.

11.00 am: AGM begins.  Please register with us between 9.00 and 10.45 am to ensure you can vote during the AGM.

12.30 pm onwards: Clubs & Huts Seminar

1.30 pm onward: Join Peter Judd (Peak Area Hill Walking Representative) for a walk which will leave Losehill Hall to take a journey from Limestone to Gritstone: visiting Cave Dale, Mam Tor and continuing along Great Ridge to Lose Hill; returning to the Losehill Hall in time for the evening buffet.  This walk is 8 miles in length with 500 metres of ascent.

7.30 pm onwards:  Free buffet, announcement of the George Band Award recipient and a BMC auction with all proceeds going to the charity Climbers Against Cancer.

Sunday 17 April

9.30 am onwards:  Join us for a 10-mile walk with 650m of ascent; leaving Losehill Hall to go around the Edale Valley and up to Hope Cross; then onto and along the southern edge of Kinder Scout, overlooking the Edale Valley, to Ringing Roger, before descending to cross the valley, going over Hollins Cross and back to Losehill Hall.

BMC TV will be in action during the weekend with a fine selection of films to watch.

Keep checking the BMC website for more updates to the programme, including information about booking accommodation and food.
