The BMC Peak Area Meeting will take place at The Maynard in Grindleford on Wednesday 13 April 2016, starting at 7.30pm.
Come along to our next gathering of Peak climbers and walkers, to discuss the latest issues and get involved in the work of the BMC. The evening includes a discussion of local and national issues, a bar and food, and a talk and film, so it should be a great night out.
The area meetings are run by volunteers and are your chance to join in with debate and influence decisions about what happens in the Peak as well as the rest of the country.
Claire Carter and Operation Moffat
Guest speaker is Claire Carter, co-director with Jen Randall of Operation Moffat, the award-winning BMC TV film, which takes its inspiration and wit from the colourful climbing life of Britain’s first female mountain guide, Gwen Moffat. The film picked up two awards at the 2015 Kendal Mountain Festival: Best Climbing Film and People’s Choice.
Settle down to watch as Claire and Jen Randall scramble, swim and barefoot climb through Gwen’s most cherished British landscapes, grappling with her preference for mountains over people, adventure over security, wilderness over tick lists. With a new take on landscape photography, archive footage and action sequences this is a film rooted in a real love of wild places.
