The Himalayan Trust UK presents the Eighth Annual Sir Edmund Hillary Lecture at the Royal Geographical Society on Thursday 26 May 2016. This year’s lecture celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first crossing of Antarctica, with Sir Edmund Hillary and George Lowe as members of the teams. Guest speakers are Dr. Huw Lewis-Jones and Prof. David Vaughan.

Huw is a historian of exploration and photography, an award-winning author, and formerly Curator at the Scott Polar Research Institute.
The Dawn of Modern Antarctic Science
Prof. David Vaughan, Director of Science, British Antarctic Survey (BAS)
David is responsible for the strategic development and excellence in scientific output of the Science teams employed by BAS.
The work of the trust in Nepal
The evening will also give the Himalayan Trust UK the opportunity to provide a brief report of its ‘Build Back Better’ programme following the devastating earthquakes of 2015, and its continuing work in education and health in the remote Taplejung district of East Nepal.
