The BMC London & South East Area Meeting will take place at The Devereux pub in the Temple area of central London on Thursday 1 September 2016, starting at 7.00pm
Come along to our next gathering of climbers and walkers in the London and South East area. The evening includes a discussion of local and national issues, a guest speaker, a bar and food, so it should be a great night out.
BMC area meetings are run by volunteers and are your chance to join in with debate and influence decisions about what happens in your area as well as the rest of the country.
Consultation on rebranding
The meeting will include a consultation on our recent rebranding announcement, and will be attended by BMC vice-president Nick Kurth and CEO Dave Turnbull, who will explain the background to the rebranding proposal in detail; this will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A session.
The views from the meeting will be fed back via Area Representatives to the National Council meeting on 17 September; National Council will then decide how to proceed based on the views and feedback received. Members are encouraged to attend the meeting to contribute to the debate. Read BMC and Clinb Britain: next steps
In the footsteps of Peary
TJ Halbertsma had always dreamed of standing on the North Pole. It was in 2009 that he decided to make his dream a reality. That year it was the Centennial Celebration of the 1909 expedition of Robert Peary, the first man to ever set foot on the North Pole. TJ will tell his story of crossing the ice in the footsteps of Robert Peary and many other legendary explorers.
All are welcome; food will be provided.
Raffle prize kindly donated by Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports, where BMC members receive 10% discount on purchases.
