The BMC London & South East Area Meeting will take place at The Old King's Head, Borough, central London on Thursday 23 November 2017, starting at 7.00pm.
Come along to our regular gathering of climbers and walkers in the London and South East area. The evening includes a discussion of local and national issues, a guest speaker, a bar and food, and a prize draw raffle, so it should be a great night out.
BMC area meetings are run by volunteers and are your chance to join in with debate and influence decisions about what happens in your area as well as the rest of the country. The November meeting is also the area AGM, and will include elections for various volunteer roles.

Organisational Review: report and recommendations
The independent Organisational Review Group’s interim report will be published prior to the November round of BMC area meetings, which will provide an important opportunity for members to discuss the group’s findings and provide feedback to help shape the group’s final recommendations, which will go to a vote at the BMC AGM in April 2018.

BMC representation on Mountain Training England
Mountain Training England (MTE) is proposing that the BMC reduces its number of voting members from four to one on MTE’s Council, achieving voting parity with MTE’s other member organisations.
Background information on this proposal
Jo Bradshaw talk
Guest speaker for the evening is Jo Bradshaw
Jo is an Outdoor Instructor and Expedition Leader, travelling all over the UK for DofE and all over the world for big mountain challenges but life hasn't always been that way. She used to be a risk averse, no saying, height fearing comfort loving girl, but saying yes to adventure once gradually changed all that and last year she stood on top of Everest, having survived the tragic earthquake in Nepal in 2015. Jo will walk you through her former self, how she challenged her fears and why her work as a leader, her Seven Summits challenge and children's mental health charity Place2Be are so important to her.
All are welcome; food will be provided by the BMC.
