Wirral ‘Troubadour’ Dean Johnson presents a unique evening of songs and a compendium of breath-taking, witty and outrageous stories featuring some of mountaineering’s greatest heroes, at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester on Monday 21 November.

Wild Mountain Times tells tales of mountaineering's most colourful characters, known as much for their personal exploits as their climbing. The high stakes, high risks, and in some cases the highest price payable, are captured in Dean Johnson's wry songwriting, which chronicles many of these legends. Featured are the infamous Aleister Crowley and Don Whillans as well as George Mallory and Sandy Irvine.

Legendary mountaineer, Doug Scott CBE will be making a rare appearance in Chester as part of the performance, and will be speaking in graphic and humorous detail about survival of two of the coldest bivouacs imaginable.

The evening will include a sale of Nepalese goods, Christmas cards, posters, signed framed mountain prints and Doug will also be signing copies of volume one of his autobiography Up And About.

Proceeds from the evening will support the work of Community Action Nepal, a UK-based charity founded by Scott and mountaineering friends 21 years ago, whose aim is to help the mountain people of Nepal.

Show starts 7.00 pm (doors open 6.30 pm)

Tickets: £14.50
