Spend an evening climbing in the Chew Valley and scaling some of the world’s greatest mountains with Paul Braithwaite on Thursday 16 February 2017.
Oldham-born Paul Braithwaite, known to the climbing world as ‘Tut’, is one of the great unsung heroes of British mountaineering. He will present a brief history of climbing in the Chew Valley, followed by a selection of Alpine climbs and expeditions worldwide, including The Eiger, Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Mount Kenya, Alaska, Patagonia and the Himalayas.
The evening will also include a bar and raffle, Nepalese goods for sale, and a brief history of the foundation of Mountain Rescue in the UK from its lowly beginnings in the Peak District.
