Join us for a weekend of great climbing and good company on the wild and beautiful Gower peninsula on 7-9 September 2018.
The Gower Climbing Festival returns for a tenth consecutive year in 2018.
Festival HQ will once again be Pitton Cross Camping & Caravan Park near Rhossili, and the site is offering a discounted fee to festivalgoers of £8 per person per night (instead of the usual £11). Please make a booking by phone (01792 390593) or book online, and mention that you are attending the festival to get the discounted price. Please do not wild camp on Gower — there are many campsites and other accommodation options available instead.
Local enthusiasts will be on hand to provide visitors with info and recommendations on where to climb, and serve up bacon and egg rolls for breakfast to fuel you for the day.
Weekend activities will include:
FRIDAY
Deep Water Soloing
A relaxed DWS session at the Platform area of Rhossili.
BMC Cymru South Wales Area Meeting
Discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally.
SATURDAY
Self-Rescue & Problem Solving Workshop
Run by Gower aficionado Matt Woodfield, this workshop will give experienced climbers an introductory taste of problem solving and self-rescue skills for when things start to go a little pear-shaped!
Evening Slideshow and Pub Quiz
After a slideshow and talk by adventurer Barry Gray at the Monksland Pub, the quiz is your chance to flex your climbing knowledge muscles.
SUNDAY
Youth Day Out
A free session aimed at giving young climbers a chance to get out onto rock under supervision by qualified and experienced individuals.
