Area Meeting
The BMC London & South East Area Meeting will take place at The Old King's Head, Borough, central London on Thursday 15 February 2018, starting at 6.30pm, slightly earlier than usual.

Come along to our next gathering of climbers and walkers in the South East and get involved in the BMC.

Area meetings are run by volunteers and provide an opportunity for you to discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally.

The evening also includes a guest speaker, a bar and food, and a prize draw raffle, so it should be a great night out.

BMC Organisational Review
Discussions will continue on the recommendations of the independent organisational review group (ORG) following consideration of feedback provided by members since the group’s report was published in November. A briefing paper (attached) has been published by the ORG for discussion at the January / February round of area meetings.

BMC representation on Mountain Training England
Mountain Training England (MTE) is proposing that the BMC reduces its number of voting members from four to one on MTE’s Council, achieving voting parity with MTE’s other member organisations. This proposal was postponed from the November area meeting due to a lack of time for discussion. See attached 1-page summary and 3-page paper for background information on this proposal.

Dan Mazur talk
Guest speaker for the evening is expedition leader Dan Mazur
Dan has been leading expeditions for SummitClimbs and SummitTreks for over 10 years, and has climbed seven of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks. His talk will feature exciting high altitude stories, images, and video footage from K2 and Everest. Follow Dan on Twitter

All are welcome; food will be provided by the BMC.
