Type of event
Meet
Come along to Hoghton Quarry on Saturday 10 February 2018, and lend a hand to clean up the crag in readiness for the summer climbing season.

Why the need for a clean-up?
Read the attached report by Les Ainsworth, Lancashire Access Rep.

Schedule
The plan is to start the clean-up at about 10am and work for about four hours.

Tools and Equipment
There could be some cleaning at ground level, but most will be done by abseil, and will mainly involve removing rhododendrons, moss, grass and ferns.

Volunteers will need harness, helmet, gloves, some sort of a pick or tool to clean out cracks and a stiff brush or wire brush. Other things which could be useful in some places will be spades, small saws or secateurs. NO power tools.

Parking
We will be parking near the railway bridge on Chapel Lane (grid reference SD621268). Please park carefully to avoid upsetting the locals and as parking is a bit limited, car sharing would be helpful.

Access to the quarry
To get to the quarry you should follow a path on the main road side of the railway bridge, then at a gated fence (which may be locked) climb over the fence and continue into the quarry.
