The BMC Midlands Area Meeting will be held at The Old Orleton Inn, Wellington, Telford on Wednesday 5 June 2019, starting at 8.30pm (food from 8.00pm).
Come to our next gathering of Midlands climbers and walkers and get involved in the BMC. Area meetings are run by volunteers and provide an opportunity for you to discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally, and to meet like-minded people and enjoy a sociable night out.
Pre-meeting walk and litter pick
For our summer meeting this year we are heading towards the western side of our area where we are going to take advantage of the long evenings and (hopefully) good weather to get out and enjoy some walking and do our bit for the BMC's H2O campaign.
As the meeting venue is just a stone’s throw from The Wrekin we are going take in a walk around and over The Wrekin before the meeting. We'll be aiming to collect any litter we see on our walk (rubbish bags will be provided). We'll be leaving the main Wrekin Car Park at 6:45pm sharp, aiming for a pleasant stroll to the summit and back in time to return to the The Old Orleton Inn for 8.00pm. The walk will be led by our area chair, Andy Potter, call 07796 220055 if you have any trouble finding us.
The actual meeting will start at 8:30pm and we're aiming to be wrapped up by 10.00pm at the very latest. Even if you can't make the walk please do join us for the area meeting. As a membership organisation we want our all our members to be able to get involved and have their say. Area meetings are key to this process, it’s where local action starts and ideas are discussed. This includes informing local climbers and walkers about regional and national issues, and providing a forum for local opinions on matters such as crag access, conservation issues, and national debates such as wind farms, land use and road building schemes.
All are welcome; buffet & tea/coffee will be provided by the BMC, available from 8.00pm.
