The BMC London & South East Area Meeting will take place on Thursday 21 April 2022, starting at 7:00pm, and will be run as a hybrid meeting, in-person at the Alpine Club, London, and online via Zoom.
Come to our next gathering of South East climbers and walkers and get involved in the BMC.
Area Meetings are run by volunteers and provide an opportunity for you to discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally. All are welcome.
Those who attend in person will be able to view the Glaciers Exhibition showcasing paintings of glaciers from the Alpine Club Collection.
With increasing attention being given to the issue of climate change and the effect it is having on mountain environments, glaciers have been pushed into the fore of public consciousness. In this new exhibition, curated by Janet Johnson, the club’s extensive collection of mountain art work is used to explore the ways that glaciers were depicted prior to the advent of photography.
HOW TO ATTEND IN PERSON
Due to capacity limits at the venue, all those wishing to attend in person are required book a ticket via Eventbrite.
Drink and crisps will be available; to make the processing of payment simple, we are asking attendees to purchase a drinks voucher in advance when they book a ticket, as we will not be able to take payment on the night.
Access to the Alpine Club is from 6:15pm for viewing the exhibition, and the meeting will start at 7pm. There will also be a short amount of time after the meeting to view the exhibition. We are very grateful to the Alpine Club for hosting the meeting.
