I'm the joint Training Officer for the BMC and Mountain Training England. I previously worked at Plas y Brenin and hold the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC).
My BMC work includes writing the Safety on Mountains and Climbing Outside publications, co-designing good practice posters and jointly writing and directing the Hill Walking, Winter, Rock Climbing and Alpine Essentials series of DVDs. I run the annual Student Safety Seminar and co-manage the Winter and Alpine Lecture series.
Talent development work includes managing the BMC FUNdamentals of Climbing Workshops, the BMC National Academiesm the BMC Regional Academies and running the BMC Coaching Symposium. All of this work is overseen by the BMC Training and Youth Committee
My MTE work includes the development of new qualifications, such as the Climbing Wall Award and the Climbing Wall Leading Award, delivering workshops for course providers and moderating the qualification courses they deliver. All of this work is carried out in collaboration with the officers of the other Mountain Training boards.
