The BMC Cymru/Wales Hillwalking and Climbing Funday 5th December Plas y Brenin
We have, this year, a startling line up for the BMC Cymru/Wales Hillwalking and Climbing Funday on the 5th December at Plas y Brenin. Free workshops for people who come to the meeting (i.e. attendance at the meeting is obligatory for anyone taking up the opportunity of a free workshop)
Free Workshops

- Coaching Masterclasss with Mark Reeves, Mark is one of North Wales’s leading climbing coaches currently involved in researching the psychological aspect affecting climbing performance, every climber can pick something up from Mark who also holds the MIA
1.00pm
· Navigation and Environment. A walk with Elfyn Jones, BMC Access and Conservation Officer – Elfyn will be passing on some navigation top tips and introducing you to the amazing upland environment of North Wales. Elfyn also holds the ML award.
· Ropework and Improvised Rescue for Climbers. Let veteran guru’s Guide Mal Creasy and MIC Andy Newton teach you enough fancy rope work to avoid getting yourself into trouble and help you to get out of it if you do.
· Bolting Workshop . Chris Parkin world bolting, mountain guide and rope access guru will run a bolting workshop ably supported BMC technical supremo Dan Middleton.
· All the latest gear. Rob and Pete from Joe Brown’s supported by DMM will demonstrate and explain what’s what with all the latest new fangled gear, from belay plates to cams.
· Emergency Ropework for mountain walkers. By Bryn Williams MIA. MLTW officer Bryn will also be able to chat about the Mountain Leader Schemes.

A short AGM with the annual report in pictures all officers eligible for re-election though; if you want to be chair, represent us on the National Council or volunteer to help in any other way we’d be very please to accommodate you.
Montane Heath Threats and Options, A short talk by Barbara Jones of CCW about the issues and possible management solutions for delicate upland heaths.
Open Forum with any Hillwalking or Climbing related issue you wish up for discussion
Free entry to the Grand No Prize Quiz (about 8.00pm) with questions by LLAMFF superstar quiz legends Dr. Noele Craine and Mr. George Smith
Free showing of the brand new Birdman across the Karakoram film featuring local director Al Hughes and International record breaking paragliding champion John Sylvester. This film features some very scary footage of two men hanging from a bit of nylon floating about in the air above, alongside and below some of the most amazing mountains in the world, you’ll need to hold on to your seat for this one…
