The schedule of work at this weekend’s Avon Gorge Clean-up has changed because of a combination of the predicted weather conditions and the availability of supervising helpers.
The scrub-bashing will take place only on the Sunday16 Feb. If you had intended to help on Saturday 15 Feb, please come along on just the Sunday instead.
Works will still be going ahead on Main Wall on the Saturday, but by a small team of ClimbBristol rope access helpers. Most of Main Wall will be closed to climbing that day.
The scrub-bashing timetable is as follows:
Date: Sunday 16th February 2014, starting at 10am
Location: Main Wall Old Car Park (near the disused toilet block)
Co-Ordinator on the day: Matt Goater, BMC South West Area Chair
Equipment: Please bring any tools for clearing scrub and brush, as we only have a limited number. You should also wear suitable protective clothing to protect against brambles and gardening gloves.
Refreshments: Limited refreshments will be provided (tea, coffee, soup and biscuits at time of writing). You may wish to bring a packed lunch and a flask.
Our work this year will be done in conjunction with work being done to remove considerable vegetation from Main Wall and invasive species around the old car park. We are also hoping for a good enthusiastic turnout as per last year.
I also realise that many may not be able to attend (BMC South West is a large area), however if you are local and not attending but know anyone who might, then please could you let them know the details in order to further publicise our event.
