The three BMC areas of Wales (South, North and Mid) are all joining forces to debate and share ideas about the BMC's Climate Project, launched in 2020, and led by Cath Flitcroft, BMC Access and Conservation Officer (Policy). An online meeting will take place on Monday 22 March, starting at 7.30 pm.
Climate change is happening fast; it is already affecting mountains and mountaineering, and we in our turn are affecting climate change. We can't ignore it.
Cath will open the on-line evening with a presentation about the BMC Climate Project, posing questions and asking us for answers. We will also be joined by Prof. Mike Berners-Lee, a keen walker and climber, who is an expert on carbon footprints. If you want to know more about Mike, look up his book 'There is no Planet B' (2019).
After the presentations, there will be ample opportunity for small group discussion in break-out groups.
The Welsh Government is already committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, but is pushing to 'get there sooner'. Let's make sure that the BMC and BMC Cymru are at the forefront of that push!
It should be quite an evening - don't miss out!
All BMC members resident in Wales are welcome to attend.
