BMC members and friends are warmly invited to join a sociable hill walk / hike heading for Kinder Scout on Sunday 6th June 2021, to be peer-led by BMC Peak Area hill walking volunteers. Pre-booking essential (details of how to do that below).
Starting and finishing in Hayfield, Derbyshire (exact location and start time available on booking).
Starting from Hayfield, we’re planning to head up onto the edges overlooking Kinder Reservoir, visiting Kinder Downfall along the way, before heading over to Mill Hill, then Burnt Hill and finally returning to Hayfield.
The walk is approx. 18.5 km (11.5 miles) in length with 915 m (3,000 ft) of ascent using mostly established paths and tracks, some are a little rough, eroded and with steep drops alongside in a few places.
Who can come
BMC members and friends.
Under 18s are welcome, but only if in the company of a parent or legal guardian who will supervise and take full responsibility for them throughout.
We like dogs, but would prefer no dogs please on this occasion (partly because it’s currently ground nesting bird season).
We'll provide details of what to bring etc. on booking.
How to book or get more information
This walk is being organised in-line with the BMC’s current COVID-19 guidelines for groups of outdoor climbers and hill walkers. This means we need to operate a strict book-a-place-in-advance system, hence we’re not giving details here of exactly where to meet or at what time we’ll start, for these you simply need to contact us to book a place by dropping a quick email to one of the organisers, Austin Knott, via: firstname.lastname@example.org If you have questions first, then we’ll be very happy to try to answer them too, simply send them, by email, to Austin.
