Warton Pinnacle Crag: Joint scrub clearance working party between the RSPB BMC and Friends of Warton Crag
Join us on Saturday 17 February for a joint working party with the RSPB and Friends of Warton Crag to carry out some scrub clearance at Warton Pinnacle Crag. Over the years scrub has encroached along the base of the crag making access to routes difficult and often prickly. The work will open up the base of the crag and keep access to the wonderful routes to be found there. The scrub clearance will also help towards achieving the RSPB’s ecological objectives of maintaining open limestone grassland and rock faces, which provide unique niches and microclimates for wildlife.
Plum Buttress
This is a great opportunity to work with other organisations who cherish the outdoors and enjoy all the varied aspects of Warton Crag from climbing, bird watching, walking and observing nature.
Stile Buttress
Numbers are limited to 8 on a first come first served basis. Please email Martin Elliott BMC Area Access Rep for Arnside and Silverdale to sign up and for more details of the day. It is hoped that participants will bring loppers, secateurs, bow saws and gloves but if you don’t have these then they will be provided. Clothing suitable for a day on the hill is recommended (although protective footwear would be advisable) and don’t forget some food and a drink to keep you going.
