From a very early age, Kate has been exploring, hiking, scrambling and camping in the UK mountains – developing a detailed knowledge of our beautiful National Parks and wild spaces. Now holding the Summer and Winter Mountain Leader Award, Kate has focused on becoming an experienced and confident leader and event organiser. This journey introduced her to the BMC via clubs and then via registering on a Mountain Training award scheme. Kate is keen to see young people developing skills and confidence to take themselves into the hills and mountains of the UK, on their own and with friends/family etc. Skills that she learnt as a child, too...
Since moving to North Wales, Kate has taken her love of running higher into the mountains and regularly competes in local races, including the International Snowdon Race and Snowdonia Marathon. She is currently the Training Coordinator for local running club, Eryri Harriers.
But, from her experience at altitude in Borneo, Peru, the Himalayas, Tanzania and the French Alps, Kate will also easily embrace the ‘high altitude plod’ when baby steps are required.
